Authentication with Legalization
This is the typical service that is provided by our office whereby our office will attend on your behalf at either DFATD or at Ministry of Government Services (when applicable) to have your documents authenticated, followed by our attendance(s) at the necessary Embassy/Consulate to have your documents legalized. Depending on your processing requirements, Capital Authentication is able to offer three (3) methods of implementation in order to complete all of your authentication with legalization requests. As each country enforces their own unique provisions, please be sure to confirm the jurisdictional provisionswith your consulate’s office prior to sending us your documents. The three methods offered are as follows:
-
Authentication at DFATD + Legalization at an Embassy/Consulate located in Ottawa.
-
Authentication at DFATD + Legalization at an Embassy/Consulate located in another city outside of Ottawa.
-
Authentication at Ministry of Government Services (Toronto) + Legalization at an Embassy/Consulate located in another city outside of Ottawa.
By viewing the below posted charts (Schedules ‘D’, ‘E’, and ‘F’), you are able to determine the various costs associated with our numerous available turnaround times, depending on the number of documents you may have. The below-noted turnaround times, and subsequent pricing charts are strictly for clients requiring documents to be first AUTHENTICATED at either the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Development (DFATD/JLAC), or at the Ministry of Government Services (MGS) in Toronto, followed by our attendance at the appropriate Embassy/Consulate to have your document(s) LEGALIZED.
Although DFATD does not charge any fees to affix their authentication stamp to your documents, the Ministry of Government Services does indeed charge an authentication fee ranging from $16.00 - $32.00 CAD, per document. The prices listed in the attached schedules do not include any applicable consular fees you may be required to pay, nor the Ministry of Government Services fees (if applicable). Although we recommend to our clients to provide us with the money order(s) for such disbursements, our office is able to advance the payment(s) on your behalf at an additional cost of $15.00 per money order obtained, plus the actual amount of the consular fee.
In the event that an Embassy/Consulate does not offer a swift service time to legalize your documents, we may be unable to offer to you one of our faster turnaround times. In these cases, we will gladly discuss with you the options available based on that particular Embassy/Consulate’s service time. Capital Authentication will not be held responsible in the event that an Embassy/Consulate retains your documents for longer than their usual processing times.
Unless you require your documents to be authenticated and legalized on an absolute “rush” basis, we strongly recommend to our clients to choose a slower turnaround time to allow for a much more cost-effective rate. Should your documents require either Authentication ONLY, or Legalization ONLY, please refer to each of those sections, both found under Our Services.
